SUBJECT: State of New York Police Officers Memorial Annual Remembrance Ceremony Postponement

As you are aware, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (Division) administers the State of New York Police Officers Memorial (POM) and the annual Remembrance Ceremony to honor the memory and sacrifice of police officers from across New York State who have perished in the line of duty. Due to the current impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and after careful consideration with the Police Officers Memorial Advisory Committee (POMAC), please be advised the annual POM Remembrance Ceremony initially scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2020 has been postponed until further notice. Currently, Division staff, along with members of the POMAC, are working closely with our POM partners to explore the possibility of holding the remembrance ceremony in the Fall 2020. In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize all the men and women of law enforcement across New York for their daily display of bravery and their unwavering commitment to protect and serve all New Yorkers during these unprecedented times. Should you have any questions regarding this memorandum, please contact David Mahany by phone at (518) 485-7644 or by email at [email protected] . Thank you.
